10 Things You Should Know About Jesus

If you were to tell somebody one thing about Jesus, what would it be? What would be the thing you view as most important if you only had one chance? Those are some of the questions that have been taking up space in my mind. They are very good questions to be pondering.

So, I came up with my answer finally then I decided to ask a few family members and my husband. Everything they said was very eye opening on what they would tell someone. I loved being able to do this with them.

I pray this brings you encouragement and a little more knowledge on who Jesus is and what He means to you.

1. Come As You Are

Jesus is not someone you have to clean yourself up to go to or seek. The Bible says to come as you are and He will give you rest (Matthew 11:28-30 KJB). The Bible does not say that we need to come to Him with all our lives together. If that was the case, what is the purpose of calling on Him to be saved? If we could get our lives together, we wouldn’t need to be saved from Hell. We could just save ourselves. Crazy, right? You come to Jesus just as you are, dirty, sin covered, and in need of hope and a Savior.

2. He Died on the Cross for Our Sins

God sent his only begotten son (Jesus) to be born of a virgin (Mary), so that the world through Him might be saved (John 3:16-17 KJB, Luke 1:26-38 KJB). That is amazing! Jesus became the ultimate sacrifice for US! So that we could get saved from Hell and go to Heaven for eternity. That is the most loving thing anyone could do for us.

Think about it. Could you send your own son to go die for the sins of the whole world? Could you watch him get beaten, spit at, and mocked? Then see him carry a roughly 300 pound cross up a long hill to die? Only to see a lot of people be ungrateful and still think there was no way He was the Son of God?

I couldn’t. But I am just a fleshly human.

See, that’s how much God loves us. Jesus willingly went to sacrifice himself for us. He willingly let people do all those awful things to Him. Just so our filthy sins could be pardoned when we call on Him to save us from Hell.

I know that got pretty brutal for a moment but those things really happened to Jesus. He went through a lot of pain, just for us. I could go on forever about how good the Lord is and how much He truly did for us by coming to die for our sins. But if I did, this post would be extremely long :).

3. By His Stripes, We Are Healed

So, what stripes did Jesus have? Well, remember when I told you that He was beaten before He hung on the cross? Yes, those are His stripes. He was flogged with a whip with multiple leather straps embedded with metal or bone. Ouch!

But, by Jesus receiving those stripes, we are healed (Isaiah 53:5 KJB). He endured our punishment for us so we didn’t have to. And, so we could go to Heaven!

4. He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life

He is the only reason we have life.

Jesus is the only way we need. Now, what do I mean when I say He is the only way we need? I am simply saying that following Him is the only way we need to go. The other ways, down other paths, going to other gods, is not going to get you or anybody to Heaven.

Jesus is the only truth we need. The only truth we need in this world is Jesus’ truth. Our “truth” is not truth the majority of the time because we are fleshly (Jeremiah 17:9 KJB). We can’t rely on ourselves for the path to righteousness because we are not righteous. That’s why we need to examine ourselves with Jesus’ truth (His holy Word).

Jesus is the only life we need. He is the one that gave us life. We are nothing and would not even be here if Jesus didn’t decide to bring us into this world. We were born to serve HIM (Romans 6:22 KJB). Not anybody or anything else. And, why wouldn’t you want to? He literally made you and gave you everything you have. So, praise the Lord!

5. Jesus is the ONLY Way to Heaven

I know that is a very controversial topic. There’s lots of people that will tell you there are many paths to Heaven, but I go by the Authorized 1611 King James Bible. In Acts 4:12 KJB it says you won’t find salvation in any other. In order to get saved, Jesus is the only name you can call on to get to Heaven.

6. He is the Light of the World

Jesus is light (John 8:12 KJB). When someone is lost, they are bound in darkness. When I was lost, I was always searching for something more. Searching for light. I didn’t realize Jesus was who I was searching for. When we call on Jesus, get saved, and start to follow Him, we don’t have to walk in darkness anymore. We get to walk in His light. He will guide us with His truth and He will light our paths.

7. Jesus is Always the Same

Our lives are constantly changing. Whether it be the people we surround ourselves with, our children growing up, new routines, new church events, or even new and crazy technology. You name it, it’s changing for better or worse. Jesus isn’t like that. He is ALWAYS the same, yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8 KJB). We can count on Him to always be there for us, always look out for our best interests, and always be listening when we call on Him.

8. He is Lowly (Humble)

Jesus is the King of Kings. He came to Earth to die on the cross so we might be saved. He could have called on legions of angels at any time to wipe out anyone or anything He told them to. But He didn’t.

He made himself a lowly servant to do the Lord’s work (Philippians 2:6-7 KJB). He didn’t want fame or maidens coming at His beck and call. He didn’t want to be lifted up by the world. He came to Earth to do His Father’s business. God can’t do much of His work with a prideful man (or woman). So, Jesus is the best example of someone who is humble and only after God’s heart, not what He can give Him or do for Him.

We are called to be like Jesus, right? The Bible says we need to humble ourselves (James 4:10 KJB). Jesus wanted the LORD to lift Him up, not the world.

9. There’s More to Him than Love

This world has got Jesus’ character twisted in so many ways. The biggest thing that modern churches will tell you is Jesus is all love. But, that is because they don’t want to talk about Hell and sin. Jesus has so much more to Him than love.

He has righteous anger. He flipped tables in the the temple of God because they were selling and buying things there. He told them they made it a den of thieves! (Matthew 21:12-13 KJB). He also got rid of the Pharoah’s chariots because they rose up against Him ( Exodus 15:7 KJB). His wrath consumed them. I do not want to test someone like that.

He bestows judgement (Romans 14:12-13). Have you ever heard someone say that only God can judge them? Well they are right on the money because He will and He won’t miss anything. Of course it’s righteous judgement because He is a righteous God. We will all have to give account of ourselves before the Lord.

He is compassionate and merciful (Psalms 145:8 KJB). The Lord shows us His sympathy and mercy every day. He doesn’t give us what we deserve the majority of the time. We didn’t get what we deserve (Hell) when we were able to get saved. He showed mercy and compassion for us then and continues to do so every day.

We are all filthy sinners even if we are saved because we are still of our flesh. That means we mess up (but there’s a difference between an oops and a lifestyle). So, since the Lord knows we are still fleshly, He has mercy and compassion on us even when there’s no way we could deserve so much of His grace.

Jesus is a man of war (Exodus 15:3). He says to live peaceably with all men unless you can’t anymore (Romans 12:18 KJB). If it be possible. The Bible also says there’s a time for war and a time for peace (Ecclesiastes 3:8 KJB). He isn’t just throwing wars out all willy-nilly. He always has a reason and it is always for peace in the end.

10. He Will Leave You to a Reprobate Mind

First, let me elaborate on what a reprobate is. A reprobate is a saved person who has been abandoned in sin. That person chose to sin and continued to follow that path away from the Lord. They ignored the Lord’s conviction on their heart and kept trucking along to go indulge in whatever is tearing them away from God.

With that being said, yes, God will leave you to your reprobate mind (Romans 1:28-32 KJB). He loves you so much that He will let you have what you want and be waiting for you to realize that sin is only fun for a season. He will welcome you with open arms when/if you decided to come back to Him. We all have free will to either follow Jesus or to follow the devil.

There are only two sides to follow. Which one will you choose?
