10 Biblical Truths to Repeat When You’re Overwhelmed

“Mom. Hey mom. Mommy. Moooooommm,” whines your four year old. Your sick baby is screaming for the sixth time today. The dog is barking at who knows what. You just started the mound of dishes, again. You glance at the half written grocery list on the table and your phone rings. When does it end? When the children go to bed? Not exactly. A mom’s job is never done.

I know, that was a rough start. I do have some awesome news though. God. Yep, He is the ONLY way I get even halfway through the noise of being a mom of two littles at home and a bigger little at school. My baby girl has had a double ear infection the past week and the overwhelming feeling has come more often than I wanna talk about. So, these verses are for both of us. God’s got us, busy momma, and there’s so many more verses of scripture that tell us so. Don’t believe me? Well, start here and then go read for yourself :).

  1. It doesn’t matter the situation. ALL things are possible with God.
But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible. Matthew 19:26 KJV
  2. God will always help you and strengthen you.
Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. Isaiah 41:10 KJV
  3. Trust in the Lord with all thine heart.
5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Proverbs 3:5-6 KJV
  4. Being overwhelmed is not God making you feel that way.
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. James 1:17 KJV
  5. God is always with you. He is your REFUGE.
10 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.
11 The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah. Psalm 46:10-11 KJV
  6. You are overwhelmed but NOT defeated.
    8 We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair;
9 Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed; 2 Corinthians 4:8-9 KJV
  7. God has overcome the world!
Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. 1 John 4:4 KJV
  8. The Lord restores your soul! He is your comforter.
3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Psalms 23:2-4 KJV
  9. The Lord RENEWS your strength!
But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. Isaiah 40:31 KJV
  10. The Lord will keep you in perfect peace.
Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. Isaiah 26:3 KJV

I don’t know about you, but I feel so much better knowing that the Lord is so much bigger than me and my little situation. HE has it all under control even when it feels like the day is spiraling and the house work will never get done. Take a deep breath, girl, and remember to take a moment to hug on your babies extra. It’s alright for your house to be a little messy while you take a moment for yourself and your children. Your house won’t always be messy and your babies won’t always be little. Lean on the Lord for your strength and peace. He is always near and just waiting on you to look up and lift your arms to Him.
