We all have so many things going on in our lives these days. Every day is another battle to make sure we spend plenty of quality time with our children amongst the long list of to do’s. As a mom of two young boys and a baby, I completely understand the struggle. There’s cleaning, feeding, doctor appointments, the boys fighting, the baby crying….you name it, it’s going on. Stay at home and working momma’s alike, it is HARD to manage all the things that need to be done. In hopes of making it a little easier on you, I’ve written 7 Simple Ways to Connect with Your Children.
#1: Talk with Them
My children love to tell me stories or about the things they built. A big one they LOVE to tell me about is their dreams. They crack me up with some of the things they say. You could do this while doing most things around the house. Listen to them and you never know what you might find out.

#2: Worship the Lord Together
That could look like turning on some children’s worship music then singing and dancing together. Or your favorite worship song and singing your hearts out. It is so much fun to see my boys dance around to the songs about the Lord. It’s even more awesome to listen to them singing the words. Have fun with it. It will bring you and them so much joy!
#3: Cook with Them
Let them help you cook! If you have never done that before, it sounds stressful at first or like it might slow you down. It. Is. Worth. It. We have to slow down some times and enjoy these moments. Your children won’t be young forever. They are striving to be like you, so what a great chance to teach them!
#4: Read Your Bible Together
Honestly, I always used to think this was super intimidating. I always thought, “What if they asked a question I didn’t know how to answer?” Then I started praying for the words to say before I sat down, and let me tell you, the Lord answers prayers. It’s a 2 in 1. Bonding time as well as pouring into them the Holy Word.
#5: Play
Playing with your children is so much more than having fun and learning more about them. Us playing with them is teaching them how to be with other children or people in general. It helps them to develop their thinking skills, creativity, and imagination. You are creating a safe space for them to let go and be themselves wholeheartedly. Plus, it’s a great time!
#6: Go on a Walk
It’s easy to think we don’t have time to go on walks. I mean, they could take at least an hour depending on how old your kiddos are. If you only have time to walk around the block….do it. You may even find yourself enjoying the sun so much, you could go around another block. You may not have realized how much you missed just being outside. I am an outdoorsy person myself, and it’s super easy to get caught up with things inside the house. Then the day is gone and there is no more sun. I get it. Being outside is such an adventure waiting to be taken! Go take it and enjoy it it to the fullest!

#7: Draw/Color Together
I promise you will learn so much just from hanging out and coloring with your child. It is one thousand percent worth it! Honestly, it’s also pretty enjoyable to just forget the things around you and be a kid again.
Getting caught up in the day-to-day is “normal” in our society. Don’t let yourself be “normal”. Take the time with your babies to ENJOY them at their stage in life. It goes by SO fast. Slow down, momma. These wordly things can wait. They will always be there. Your children won’t.
